Eric’s Restaurant, Lindley, Huddersfield

IMG_9312

Saturday was my mums birthday so the family all went to the fabulous Eric’s restaurant for a birthday meal. We’re very lucky in Huddersfield that, although the town centre is certainly not what it was, our surrounding villages have some beautiful restaurants, hotels and wine bars. Lindley is a large village a couple of miles from the town centre and boasts some fabulous restaurants, shops and wine bars. Chef Eric Paxman first opened his wonderful Eric’s restaurant closely followed by his gourmet burger restaurant Pax.

Eric’s Restaurant is an award winning, fine dining eatery with delicious seasonal menus where the ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible. Art  by Yorkshire artists is galleried in the restaurant adding to the r stay rants ambiance.

Eric’s passion for food is evident in the outstanding menu and you really are spoilt for choice. I went for the rump of lamp which I can honestly say is some of the best lamp I’ve ever eaten. My mum went for the duck, my dad the belly pork and Tony the calves liver and we all agreed the dishes were exceptional. With a wonderful wine bar downstairs, a beautiful dining area, excellent staff and exceptional food, Eric’s restaurant really is the place to visit.

BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE

My new Cross Trainer

When I’m going through really busy work periods I struggle to fit in keeping fit and I needed something that I could easily fit into my daily schedule. I used to run and a morning run outdoors was ideal as it saved much more time than going to the gym. However I’ve really been struggling with pain in my ankles along with plantar fasciitis recently and after my last run I’ve been in agony for weeks. IMG_9302

I looked into various cardio workouts and the cross trainer kept coming up as the one with less impact on bones and joints so we took the plunge and bought one for our home. In short, I love it! I get on for half an hour every morning straight after the school run (followed by a short yoga workout on YouTube) which is perfect as I’m then done for the day. I can watch TV whilst I work out, it hasn’t affected my feet and ankles at all and it fits in perfectly with my lifestyle no matter how busy I am. I’m increasing the resistance week by week and all in all its been a great addition to my morning routine.

FILM OF THE MONTH

Toy Story 4

IMG_9301I couldn’t not watch the last instalment of these amazing films so I took my 11 year old Max, who has of course seen all the other 3, to see Toy Story 4 as soon as it came out.

Watching these films gives you a warm, comforting and homely feel to it and this was no different. Seeing the characters we’ve all loved for years once again on the big screen was just wonderful! Was it as good as the other 3? In my opinion no, but did we enjoy it? Absolutely, what’s not to love?

THIS MONTH I’M LOVING

Being off work & spending complete quality time with my family!

THIS MONTH I’M NOT LOVING

A DAY ON THE LOOSE WOMEN SET

A DAY ON THE LOOSE WOMEN SET

IMG_9221

Watching ‘Loose Women’ live on set is a little bucket list thing I’ve wanted to do for a while so, knowing I had a couple of days in London planned this July I went on the website and successfully booked tickets for my mum & I. A few weeks later I was very happy to find out my first teenage celebrity crush Jason Donovan was going to be that days guest.

We arrived at the ITV studios very very early but it gave us time to have a nice breakfast in one of the surrounding restaurants on the grounds of the studios. Loose Women ticket holders also get good discounts in these restaurants.

As soon as we saw a couple of other ladies arriving we joined the queue so we were very near the front as there’s no guarantee of getting in even with tickets.

We had an added bonus as whilst we were in the queue there was a live section of ‘This Morning’ being filmed right in front of us so we saw that days presenters Ben Shepherd and Jenny Faulkener filming a live consumer segment with Alice Beer, at the end of it she came right up to us giving my mum and I a huge close up on This Morning!!! My mums first ever TV appearance!!

We were then shown in to the ‘Loose Women’ studios and sat in our seats, I got an aisle seat so I had a great view. I turned to look around at the studio and found Jason Donovan stood right next to me ready to film the intro to the programme! He seemed a lovely guy which pleased me as there’s nothing worse than finding out someone you like is not as nice in the flesh. IMG_9223

Our Loose Women for the day were Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, Brenda Edwards & Kellie Bryan who we cheered on to the set.

Kaye, Brenda & Kellie were all really lovely and went out of their way to talk to the audience before & after the show and during the commercial breaks. We were slightly disappointed with Nadia as she looked bored and disinterested in it all and just went on her phone during the breaks. As soon as filming was over she shot off the set without saying a word. She may have been having a bad day but as a Loose Women I have enjoyed watching she was a disappointment.

However, the rest of the experience was great and it’s a really fun & happy show. They have a great audience warm up guy who made it fun and light hearted before filming stared and during the ad breaks and it was nice to be able to give my mum this fun experience.

A lovely morning spent with the Loose Women and all in all a fantastic experience!

WATCHING BRITAINS GOT TALENT THE CHAMPIONS LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

WATCHING BRITAINS GOT TALENT THE CHAMPIONS LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

IMG_9222

After an amazing week at summer school for Isabelle at my old theatre school, the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Surrey I was lucky enough to get tickets to watch Britains Got Talent the Champions Semi Final live at Wembley Arena.

I’d taken my mum with me for an action packed weekend before picking Isabelle up so I though it would be a nice treat for us all before heading back home. Wembley itself is packed full of restaurants, bars and a great shopping area so we made an afternoon of it having a meal at Prezzo Italian.

We were unbelievably lucky to get amazing seats quite near the front with a fantastic view of Ant & Dec, the judges and all the acts. The atmosphere was electric with everyone in high spirits looking forward to the evening ahead. I’d never been to Wembley Arena before either and it really is an amazing venue. The crowd was buzzing and we were looking forward to this great experience. IMG_9185

It’s always interesting to watch how a TV programme is filmed behind the scenes. There’s much more waiting around than you realise but it’s good to see the judges and stars in between takes having a laugh and interacting with each other.

We were sworn to secrecy on who got voted in and who got the golden buzzer but it was a very popular choice.

IMG_9188There was lots of audience participation and it was a really fun evening and a great experience. Another thing for Isabelle to tick off her bucket list. For me, seeing Simon Cowell, Ant & Dec (plus Jason Donovan whilst watching Loose Women live at the ITV studios) all in one weekend ticked lots off my bucket list!!! 😂😍
